We will be doing some new internet projects in the coming months and also this next year. This blog will chronicle the projects we do and what happens. I’m very excited about these projects.
The first project is called Skype R’ Us. We will Skype with a 1st grade class in Iowa. They are trying to get a classroom in every state in the US. They have many states to go. The class has a questionaire that we are finding the answers to and we will discuss the answers during our Skype session. I spoke to the teacher and he is very excited about a homeschool group participating. He told me that he has never had a homeschool group participate before.
I’ll post again after the session.
Our second project is called Trucker Buddy. We will doing this project with the homeschool group as well. This is a project where you communicate with a truck driver. You can also track the drivers stops on a map. The driver can also come to your “school” to meet the children. I’m not sure if we will be doing this project right now or in the Fall. The driver is willing to participate during the summer, so we might continue you this project during our summer session. Our group is doing a Book Club during the summer months, so this might be a good addition.
We have one more project we will be doing. The title is called “The Day I was Born” Project. We will be doing this one ourselves. Abby will be researching what happened on the day she was born. She will then write a report to send to the project. There they will be putting together a History book with the data they receive. I really like this project because of the tangible result of the book.
I will be changing the emphasis for this blog. I’m hoping the new name will be changed soon. This page will be where I will list any and all internet projects we will be participating in.
I am also going to start a project of our own. I’m not sure of the name yet, but it will be Skype to interact with other homeschoolers and classrooms. I will have a questionaire up soon and will begin the project sometime in May.
